A girl in her mid-twenties. A sadistic, pixie-like lover of fun who never grew up. Her parents were drunken gypsies who, in their search for fun, often times used and abused her for their own amusement, often treating her like a toy, batting her around like a cat would a bug--simply for pleasure. They eventually abandoned her at the age of nine at a Pub on the Ports of Amsterdam. She found her friends among the players, finding comradery and an identity among those like herself with a love of sadistic fun--at any cost. She is constantly at play, most often at the expense of others.

My name is Maria Coppola and I would say I do more singing, dancing, and acting, than any thirteen year old girl I know. I am a principal dancer in Pippin, but behind the scenes, I'm auditioning for performing arts high schools such as Edward R. Murrow, Professional Performing Arts School, and Fort Hamilton High School. Fabio, the director of Pippin, helps me out with the monolouges that I need for my auditions and I couldn't ask for better help from anyone. As much as I have going on outside of The Heights Players, I spend all of the spare time I have being in this show, which i couldn't enjoy more. I hope you guys enjoy the show as much as I do!

If I Could Share My Days "With You" - A Dancers Diary

Many people often wonder what it takes to put together a show, and, in particular, a scene or dance number. Well, to answer truthfully, much of the required response depends on the creative forces behind that particular project. As with any piece of art, theatre, music or dance, the process begins with the birth of an idea, an expression, or lastly, a desire. And there are always many options, directions and roads down which that idea can travel down and develop into a performance piece. The true challenges exist when working on a project that is already so well known for its original content and the creative minds behind its original inception, and in this case we are referring to Mr. Stephen Schwartz and Mr. Bob Fosse.

Above, you will find a photograph from a rehearsal of our production of Pippin, where we are working on a dance piece from the musical number "With You". Often referred to as "The Orgy" scene, our creative team are looking to push the envelope and provoke conversation through freedom of expression and the art of dance, not much differently than what Mr. Fosse attempted to do in his production just 25 years earlier.

If you are wondering what our dancers could possibly be doing, then I ask you to first take a deep look within yourselves.

Take a closer look at your inner desires and your dormant dreams.

To consider joining your neighbour in what you carefully observe taking place in their bedroom every night... or on your television every evening... or in your mind every day!

You are the voyeur and this is your fantasy.

These 3 dancers are merely puppets of your deepest, darkest fantasies.

Look at them closely!

Don't blame them if you want to see more.

Don't hesitate to ask for more.

Don't blame yourself when we say we didn't warn you, in a 3some fashion.

Ok ladies, so as you may or may not know, you are the official Orgy belly-dancers (ladies of the night). Attached is the music, which Jill will begin to choreograph something to. Jill, I see you guys entering at the 18 second mark and staying on until atleast 1:25, if not more. Now I believe that there are 5 of you. I envision a couple on each side and Lauren in the center on that long platform. I believe that you guys are getting together at 5PM on Sunday, 11/2 at the theatre to begin work on it. Please confirm with Jill by contacting her via email or phone. I look forward to working with you guys on this.

Amanda (you entered with this group though you will not be bellydancing) in With You Part 2 (as the Mata Hari Girls) and sat there while caressing and feeding Pippin, but, soon after, became part of Kristen's Principal Dancers (which we will be going over Kristen's choreography during this Saturday's dance review). It would be greatly appreciated if you can come on Saturday to pick up your blocking for what you missed.

Jill, just wanted to confirm that we're going over the bellydancing on Sunday at 5pm. Also, you had said during rehearsal that you might be able to find a rehearsal space for cheap to go over our bellydancing in Magic To Do.

If you can't find one, I am completely willing to have our Magic To Do extra bellydancing rehearsal at my place, maybe I'll put together two full length mirrors and make a makeshift kind of rehearsal space.

Hi All,

This is the official blog for The Heights Players production of "Pippin" (www.heightsplayers.org/pippin) appropriately titled, "Pippin" A Heights Players Project. The purpose of this blog is to trace the evolution of our production of "Pippin" and what it takes to put together a musical in NYC. From Auditions to Performances, we plan on documenting the most complicated of inner workings & struggles from the lives and minds of all parties involved in this most exciting and ambitious undertaking.
"Pippin", music by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Wicked, Children of Eden) and book & lyrics by Roger O. Hirson, is a musical that was produced in the early 70's and gained notoriety and popularity because of its music and subject matter, mostly due to the director's vision & choreography, Mr. Bob Fosse.
We are very excited and very honored to be given the opportunity to re-create and re-embark on our very own "Pippin" journey that will leave your senses, as well as ours, yearning for more! The "Pippin" experience is one that has transcended all decades and all genres, and will continue to provoke thought and controversy, as all good theatre and art should. I will stop here, as it is still early and the days are young; we wouldn't want to give away all of our secrets just yet...
